Neko no Hi

Better late than never!

My 8 month old cat, Snufkin.

The 22nd February is Neko no Hi in Japan. That's "cat day" to us English types. The Japan Pet Food Association named this day in 1987 due to the date sounding like the noise a cat makes. Cat's don't "meow" in Japan, they "nyar". The Japanese for number two is "ni". So 22/2 is "ni, ni, ni" which sounds like "nyar, nyar, nyar". And so Neko no Hi was formed! Get it???

Here's a few kawaii cats to celebrate yesterday's Neko no Hi ^_^

And a few more of my own kawaii cat, Snufkin!

Poorly Snufkin! :o(

Aesthetically Pleasing

I'm into aesthetics. I like things that are pleasing to the eye. My eye that is. So I'm a fan of art. Art in general and certain specific styles of art. One of those styles would be, you've guessed it, kawaii.

Here's just a little taste of some of the kawaii art that's out there. I'd give almost anything to be as talented as these beautifully creative and inspiring artists.

Charuca Vargas

Cotton Candy Rabbit

Pip & Pop

Takashi  Murakami

With Kitty

Yoko D'Holbachie

Buff Monster

Camilla D'Errico

 Gary Baseman

 Jason Mecier

 Madoka Kinoshita

 Melissa Haslam

 Yumiko Kayukawa

I hope I've inspired a few of you to create your own kawaii art ^_^

Corsets and Kitties

I know so many seriously talented folk. I would be jealous, but as they're my friends, I'm just proud.

Let me introduce Dee Ablo, fellow Sheffield Steel Roller Girl and corset maker extraordinaire!

Here's a small sample of her most recent piece.

I've already made the decision to have Dee Ablo commission my very own underbust corset. And of course, it just has to be Hello Kitty. But which fabric to choose???!!
